The Cutting Garden Diary – February
February brings with it the first hints of life returning to the garden. The days are still cold, but there’s a noticeable shift in the air, a sense of waking up. Snowdrops and hellebores are the first to brave the chilly mornings, their delicate faces peeking through the frost, offering a promise of what’s to come.
This month is all about setting the foundation for the year ahead. I’ve been busy planting out the early seeds in the greenhouse – sweet peas, snapdragons, and larkspur – all of which will play a big role in my spring and summer weddings. There’s something so hopeful about watching these tiny green shoots emerge, knowing that in a few months’ time, they’ll be towering blooms, ready to bring joy to so many celebrations.
The garden still feels quiet, but I’m beginning to see the signs of what’s to come. Each small task – from mulching the beds to pruning the roses – brings me one step closer to the flurry of blooms that summer will bring. For now, though, I’m enjoying the quiet and the anticipation.
Until next month,
